Technical tripartite webinar for the ratification campaign of ILO Conventions on Employment Service, and Private Employment Agencies

12 May 2022 - 12 May 2022

The International Labour Organization is organizing the first technical tripartite webinar on the importance of the ratification and effective implementation of the Employment Service Convention, 1948, (No.88) and the Private Employment Agencies Convention, 1997, (No.181).

Employment services are the facilitators of transition of the labour markets and lifelong learning and with the social partners constitute the foremost experts on issues and developments of the labour markets.

For young persons, employment services can be enablers of careers choices leading to decent work and sustainable employment, deriving from labour standards, labour market developments and skills demands. In a more global world of work, it is important for countries and social partners to have a common framework in strengthening the capacity of the future work force.

The webinar will feature presentations on how the normative frameworks promoted by the Conventions can ensure effective employment services by both public employment services and private employment agencies, as well as experiences and lessons learned from ILO member States that have ratified one or both conventions.
